Tree Preservation Orders
Tree Preservation Orders (TPO’s) are administered by local planning authorities under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. This makes provision for local planning authorities to serve tree protection orders where they deem it to be expedient in the interests of amenity.
In October 2008, a new format when applying to carry out works to trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order was introduced. Called 1App, this requires the use of a standardised application form and the submission of supporting information where necessary. Local Planning Authorities can refuse to register applications not conforming to the 1App regulations.
We offer the following service to owners of trees subject to a Tree Preservation Order.
- Assessment of new tree protection orders and their legality
- Objections to the placing of a Tree Preservation Order
- Applications to undertake works to trees subject to a Tree Preservation Order
- Appeals against refusal to allow works to protected trees or the placement of conditions
- Applications for compensation
- Notifications of works to trees in a Conservation Area Call or email us for further advice.
